One of the best places that I have been to in the Caribbean is a place called Los Roques archipelago. It consist of 350 different islands, cays and islets. There is one main island, El Gran Roque (”the big rock”), which you arrive at by a small plane. There are absolutely no cars on the island. That is how small it is. I went down with my father, his wife and a few of my father’s friends. We stayed in a hostel for 3 nights. Along with the package of the hostel there was a catamaran that took us to various different cays. A new one each day. One night the generator went out and we were in the dark for a good hour. I had never seen the stars any brighter that night. I don’t think they would have been any brighter unless I were out in space. It truly is paradise on earth!

I do not know playa riviera, but just by looking at the pictures I can say that it is so beautiful.
Another destination in the caribbean that I recommend to visit is Cartagena, Colombia. It is located on Colombia’s northern coast and facing the Caribbean Sea, Cartagena is an espectacular destination.Cartagena’s main attraction is its historic old town surrounded by the city walled ( la ciudad amurallada) which it is amazing.La ciudad amurallada represents the architecture of the Spanish colonial times.
If thinking on the caribbean, Cartagena is pleasant escape.

Your blog looks amazing!!!

As far as the vacation place, how expensive is to go there? It sounds great and could be a good honeymoon trip:) My brother just got back from his honeymoon in Europe and he said it was horrible…Do you think it is better to go somewhere closer?

Hi Marina,

The Mayan Riviera is an inexpensive place and great for honeymooners. My husband and I visited Cancun for our honeymoon, which is about 40 minutes from the Mayan Riviera. We did not want to come back! Since then, we have visited it twice and loved every little moment in there.

One tip I can give you to find great deals for your honeymoon is to find someone you know who has a timeshare. Usually, people who own week(s) in a resort subscribe to Interval International and/or RCI. These enable timeshare owers to exchange their weeks to other resorts around the world and enjoy membership deals such as a week in a five start resort located at the Mayan Riviera for only $400.

There is always a timeshare for sale. I would recommend that you get an inexpensive timeshare for < $10,000 and subscribe to Interval World International. With this subscription, you can exchange your vacation week to any participating resort around the world.

This blog looks really nice! All the pictures are beautiful especially of Cancun! I really want to go there now after seeing the pictures, I could almost imagine myself at the cenotes!

I’ve never been to any of these places, but they sure look like a great place to relax under an umbrella, drinking rum and coke and just vegging out. The photos are gorgeous. If it’s half as beautiful in person, any of these places sound like a great vacation place. The location with the underwater caves sounded especially interesting.
